Interior shot

Ordering food at Ping Pong is straightforward. You are given a menu, and a Tally Sheet which lists all the dishes, and a pencil. All you have to do is mark your choices on the Tally Sheet. Our staff are on hand to advise you and make suggestions if you’re not sure what to choose. We also have a number of set menus which are a good introduction to eating dim sum.

Your food arrives when it’s ready, in no particular order. Most Ping Pong dishes include 3 pieces of dim sum per serving. Steamed dishes are served in bamboo baskets. Baked and fried dim sum are served on white plates. Some are very traditional, others are our own creations, inspired by our heritage but with a modern twist. We usually have at least one soup on the menu, along with some salads with an oriental flavour.

People tend to think that Dim Sum is about steamed dumplings, and we certainly offer plenty of these, including Har gau – king prawns and bamboo shoots in translucent white pastry; Pork shu mai – pork and king prawns in open shu mai pastry topped with a Chinese wolfberry; Spicy chicken – chicken and vegetables in chilli sauce; Spinach and mushroom – organic spinach and mushrooms seasoned with ginger and garlic. Choose from three varieties of Sticky rice, each hand-wrapped in a lotus leaf. Steamed buns are fluffy white balls filled with either honey barbecue pork or sautéed vegetables.

Teapot and mug

Our baked and fried dishes are hot favourites too. We make our own puff pastry for our Roast pork, Chicken and Vegetable oven-baked puffs, and they are absolutely delicious. Fried dishes include several varieties of spring roll, Crispy prawn ball, Prawn toast and more. As for our Honey glazed ribs – it’s hard to confine yourself to one portion. Expect to get sticky. No-one will mind. Click the links in the ‘what’s on the menu?’ section above to download our current main menu.

You will also find a regularly changing menu of specials. It’s great fun to order lots of different things and share, and there are plenty of vegetarian options.

Cocktails

We have a good range of wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks, but pride of place on the drinks menu goes to our famous cocktails – not just delicious but as reasonably priced as our food. Choose from a wide selection of Martinis and Long cocktails made from fresh and intriguing ingredients, with new cocktail specials entering the repertoire on a regular basis. Even our Ping Pong soft drinks are freshly made and really tasty, so anyone avoiding alcohol needn’t feel deprived. teas

Well, you couldn’t call yourself a Tea House if you didn’t serve tea could you? We serve several varieties of Chinese teas, including our famous flowering teas – individual tea ‘balls’ served in a long glass. Hot water is added from a copper kettle, and within a few minutes the most beautiful ‘flower’ has blossomed in front of your eyes. It’s a lovely way to end a meal, and a refreshing and healthy drink to have at any time of day.
